Air Conditioning Servicing Across Somerset
Don't Wait Until Something Goes Wrong
Most people don’t think about their air conditioning unit until it stops working. By that point, what could have been caught during a routine service has often developed into something far more disruptive and expensive to fix.
At Somerset Air Conditioning, we carry out annual servicing on domestic and commercial air conditioning units right across the county. Our engineers are Refcom certified, which means they are fully qualified to work safely with the fluorinated gases used in modern air conditioning systems. All servicing is completed in line with manufacturer guidelines, so your warranty remains fully intact.
If our engineer spots anything that needs attention during the service, we’ll let you know clearly and honestly before any additional work is carried out. No surprises.

Why Regular Servicing Matters More Than You Might Think
It’s easy to assume that because your air conditioning unit appears to be working, it’s working well. In reality, performance can decline gradually and almost imperceptibly — and the cause is often straightforward.
As an air conditioning unit draws air across its internal components, dust, debris and microscopic particles accumulate on the coils, filters and fan blades. Even a modest build-up acts as an insulating layer that makes heat transfer less efficient, forcing the system to consume more energy to achieve the same output. Left unaddressed, this puts mechanical strain on the compressor and motor — the most costly components to replace.
Also a neglected unit can harbour bacteria, mould spores and allergens within its internal components, circulating them around the room every time it runs.
Annual servicing resolves all of this — cleaning the system thoroughly, identifying developing issues before they escalate, and confirming that everything is operating safely and legally.
What's Included in Our Air Conditioning Service
Every service carried out by our Somerset engineers includes the following as standard:
- Deep clean of filters, coils, and internal components We remove built-up dust, biological matter, and debris from all key internal areas, restoring airflow and protecting indoor air quality.
- Full mechanical inspection All moving parts are examined for signs of wear, including fan motors, bearings, and drainage components.
- Refrigerant check and F-Gas compliance We verify refrigerant charge levels and confirm the system meets current.
- Electrical and controls testing Every electrical connection, sensor, thermostat response and control function is tested to confirm the system is operating accurately and safely across its full range of settings.
- Early fault detection Servicing gives us the opportunity to identify issues that aren’t yet causing obvious problems — minor refrigerant leaks, early-stage corrosion, or intermittent electrical faults — allowing you to address them on your own terms rather than during a breakdown.

FAQs
A thorough service covers cleaning of all internal components including filters, coils, and drainage, a full mechanical inspection, refrigerant checks in line with F-Gas regulations, and testing of all electrical controls and sensors. Our engineer will also carry out a general health check of the unit and flag any areas of concern.
Once a year is the standard recommendation for most domestic and light commercial systems. Units that run for extended periods — for example, in a busy office or hospitality environment — may benefit from more frequent attention. We’re happy to advise based on your specific setup.
Pricing depends on the type and size of your system. A standard split service (one indoor unit, one outdoor unit) starts from £90 plus VAT. We’ll always confirm the cost upfront before booking.
It is not advisable to attempt to work on an air conditioning unit without the proper knowledge and equipment. Furthermore, F-Gas certification is required when working with appliances such as AC units.
